![]() Justin Verlander, the 2011 CY Young winner, is going on the DL for the first time in his career! This is really hard to believe that he is going on the DL for the first time. Since most players go on the DL at least 2 or 3 times in their big league career. With this happening Verlander will miss his opening day start against the Minnesota Twins. He will more than likely be able to start in the sixth game of the season. With this happening, it shouldn't hurt the tigers too much since they will only miss him for one game and they will get him back hopefully the sixth game of the season. So theres no way that they will lose the first five games of the season. Although it is nice to have your ace on the first game of the season but that won't be the case for the tigers. I think though, with this injury this could help him out in a big way since he signed his $180 million seven year deal he has been 28-24 and before signing this he was 124-65. So this might help him relax and be cool, calm, and collective instead of being over anxious. With him not being over anxious he will have a better start and more than likely do good and knowing the tigers they should have a good first week this season without Verlander. By Nicklaus Guajardo
