![]() This opening day for the Yankees starting on the bump will not be CC Sabathia it will be Masahiro Tanaka. Girardi's decision to do this is based on his projected health and rewarding him for his amazing performance last year, 13-5 with a 2.77 ERA . This a great decision for the Yankees the past couple of years Sabathia has been the pitcher that he was when they won the 2009 World Series. So with Girardi making this decision is a good one. Tanaka has proven that he can pitch in the MLB. Girardi has also said that they will limit him to 90 pitches. I don't see any thing wrong with this it is only the first game of season you still have a 161 games to go after that. Some people say that they should let him go as long as he can when that is a bad idea, he could hurt him self in the first game trying to finish it. He has also no more then 60 pitches in a spring start. So only letting him going 90 pitches is a smart move on the Yankees part. Also the Yankees don't want to reinjure his already torn ULC that can only be repaired by Tommy John surgery. The Yankees have chosen to use a non-surgically treatment with platelet plasma injections followed by a modified throwing program. I think Tanaka is going to do great on opening day he is probably going to go at least 5 or 6 innings and probably pick up the win that day. By Nicklaus Guajardo
