"Big Game" James Shields finally finds a home in San Diego with a 4 year, $75 million deal. This was sort of a shock to me because, knowing how good of a pitcher he is, I would have thought he would go to a big name team. Instead, he decided to go to the Padres, who finished with a 77-85 record and 3rd in their division. With all the new additions that the Padres have gotten, I think this a good choice for him because one, he is going to a place where he is from so he will be more comfortable and he won't be so nervous. Another note is that he will have what he had in Kansas City, which is a lineup that can hit. He is also going to have three all-star outfielders Kemp, Myers, and Upton. What pitcher wouldn't want these guys in their outfield? They can all run, hit, and throw. They don't a have week spot in their outfield. Now I say this, but that doesn't mean they will perform well, especially Kemp, but if all of these outfielders perform the way they know how to and I know how they should, watch out. The Padres could be really dangerous. I'm not saying they are going to win the World Series, but they should make the playoffs or at least finish second in their division, or maybe even make the wild card. So in the end, this is a good choice for Shields. I also think that he will have a good year because, like I said before, he lives in San Diego so he gets to pitch in his home town and pitch were he will be very comfortable.
