Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angles Clippers made very disturbing and racist comments earlier this year regarding “black people” and how he feels. He was saying these disgusting things to his girlfriend in the privacy of his own house. Donald’s girlfriend was recording their conversation and Mr. Sterling was well aware of it. Once the video leaked out into the media it upset many people and became the most popular news all over America. His own team was against him and protested the event by wearing their shirts inside out to hide the team’s logo. Everyone from President Barack Obama to NBA legends Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan expressed disgust at all the comments. The comments were so bad that the Commissioner Adam Silver had to make a major decision weather to ban Donald or just fine him. Silver finally announced that Donald Sterling is banned for life. This includes all MBA games, faculties and practices. Also Sterling was fined $2.5 million and that money will be donated to organizations dedicated to anti- discrimination and tolerance efforts. There are still many questions that remain, will Donald Sterling fight this decision and did Mr. Silver make the right choice by banning him? When the question was asked about Donald fighting it his lawyer would not answer so only time will tell on that. Weather silver made the right choice or not is just your personal opinion and I believe that banning him and along with fining him $2.5 million was over excessive I mean the man was in his own home when all this stuff had been said. It was wrong of him to say what he did but at least it was in the privacy of his own house. Donald Sterling grew up when there was discrimination toward African Americans and he cant be too racist cuss he is dating a girl that is half black. But back to him being in his own house I mean you have the right to say anything you want on your own property and shouldn’t get judged for it. My opinion is that Donald got punished way to hard for this, he does deserve some punishment because it got out into the public but he did not deserve the fine plus the ban it should have been one or the other.
