St.louis Cardinals's pitcher Adam Wainwright might not play on opening day. He was diagnosed with abdominal strain when he put a 45-pound back on the rack on Monday. He felt little pain at first but he later on told the team doctor about it. He is expected to return to spring training Thursday, but the doctor told him to avoid running and lifting for at least a half a week, but he can throw. In order for him to start this season, he'll have to start in 3 to 4 exhibition games. Wainwright went 20-9 with 2.38 ERA last year before undergoing surgery to remove cartilage in his throwing elbow. He was able to start in the All-Star game, when he went 8-5 with a 3.24 ERA. To me Wainwright is a exellent pitcher, and probably will lead the Cards to another World Series and take home the title back to St.Louis.
