Today is Opening Day for the Texas Rangers and many others around the league. The Rangers square off against rival club, Oakland. The Athletics made numerous changes to their roster in the offseason. Only nine of the twenty-five on their opening day roster last year are on it this year. They are definitely going to be considered "the new-look A's." One player who stayed on the team is the starter tonight, Sonny Gray. Gray has a 2.99 career ERA and has only allowed 19 home runs in his 283 innings pitched the past 2 years. Those are elite numbers for a reigning sophomore. However, on the mound for the Rangers is 2010 Silver Slugger Yovani Gallardo(don't worry, I didn't know until today either). Gallardo is used to making Opening Day starts, but this will be the first for his hometown team. Hopefully he'll try to make his hometown fans proud by taking the W in his debut for the team.
With Adrian Beltre and Prince Fielder in the middle of the lineup, anything is possible. The Rangers should win tonight and start off the season strong.
